Whitman Independent Advisors was founded in 2000 by Yap Ming Hui with a bold ambition: to transform how financial advice is delivered in Malaysia and ensure that clients enter retirement richer, more prepared, and worry-free. Licensed by the Securities Commission and approved by Bank Negara Malaysia, Whitman set out to innovate the financial services industry with its fee-based wealth management model, even before such licensing frameworks were in place.

We began by serving high-net-worth individuals—business owners, entrepreneurs, and families who sought more than just higher returns. They wanted clarity amid financial complexity, long-term strategies to preserve generational wealth, and a trusted partner to guide legacy decisions.

This became the foundation of what we now call Retirement Optimisation: a structured, long-term approach to help clients plan, fund, manage, and preserve wealth throughout retirement.

For over two decades, we have provided structure and guidance, helping thousands of clients prepare for life’s most critical financial milestone – transitioning into retirement—richer, more prepared, and worry-free. On 26 Feb 2026, Whitman Independent Advisors Sdn Bhd’s holding company Whitman Holdings Berhad was successfully listed on Bursa Malaysia’s LEAP market.
